This deal will open up a new category and strengthen the company's Distribution network

Wiggles, a pet care brand, recently announced the acquisition of Capt Zack in a 100% cash and equity deal. The acquisition highlights the growth potential in India's pet care start-up economy, which has seen several global companies and smaller players enter. Capt Zack is one of India's earliest direct-to-consumer (D2C) entrants in the pet care category, founded in 2016 by Dr. Mohit Lalvani. The company's chemical-free, ISO-certified product portfolio for cats and dogs includes hygiene, food, treats, accessories, toys, and bedding products.

The acquisition is expected to provide an impetus to Wiggles' efforts and accelerate momentum for new product development and launches while strengthening distribution. Wiggles' Founder and CEO, Anushka Iyer, said that the acquisition would enable the pet care platform to expand into newer categories and markets, given Capt Zack's presence in the category of grooming essentials. Wiggles will continue to invest in R&D to develop and grow this segment further.

Mohit Lalvani, Founder of Capt Zack expressed his excitement about becoming a part of Wiggles and praised the brand's achievements in a short span. Wiggles, founded in 2018 by pet parents Anushka Iyer, Rajh Iyer, and Venkat Mahadevan, serves and cares for 7 lakh pet parents across India.

Over the last year, the company has experienced over 100% growth across its products and services. Additionally, Wiggles set up India's first boarding, training, and veterinary facility at Petsville in Pune, and its Wiggles Tribe is India's largest online and offline pet parent community that gives members access to experts such as vets, behaviorists, nutritionists, and trainers.

Certified and recognized by institutions like the International Boarding & Pet Services Association (IBPSA), Ministry of Ayush, and World Pet Association, Wiggles offers indigenous and vet-approved solutions for Indian pets and their parents.
