Wipro Consumer Care’s entry into India’s pet food market with Snuggles marks another sign of how seriously large consumer companies are taking the industry. Launched on International Dog Day, the brand has entered with a premium positioning, a kibble-plus-freeze-dried chicken format, and a promise of science-backed nutrition.

- Wipro has set an ambitious long-term goal for Snuggles, aiming to place it among India’s leading homegrown pet food brands in the coming years.
Petzcareindia View:
On paper, it sounds promising. In a fast-growing, increasingly brand-aware market, such launches reflect confidence in the pet economy’s future.
But the real question is not whether the launch looks good. The real question is whether it will build trust.
Indian pet parents today are more informed, more demanding, and far less willing to accept marketing language without proof. They want transparency on ingredients, clarity on sourcing, consistency in quality, and honesty in claims. That is where the industry’s credibility is tested. A premium pack and a smart campaign may attract attention, but only product performance and long-term responsibility will win loyalty.
The pet food sector in India is also facing a deeper challenge: separating serious, legacy-building companies from opportunistic fly-by-night operators.
Every new entrant raises hope, but it also raises scrutiny. Are brands here to serve pets for the long run, or only to capture a fast-growing category?
Snuggles may be a significant launch, but it should also be a reminder. India’s pet food industry does not just need more products. It needs more accountability, better standards, and brands willing to be judged not by launch day applause, but by what they deliver after the noise settles.
