The Maitri initiative fosters a collaborative effort between the local community and CUPA, aiming to manage stray cat populations while tackling the One Health challenge of overpopulation.

Murty Trust's Maitri Initiative takes a bold step in enhancing animal welfare in Bangalore. In collaboration with Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA), the Trust inaugurates 'Maitri,' a pioneering community cat sterilization center, symbolizing goodwill and friendship. This state-of-the-art facility addresses challenges in Bangalore's animal welfare sector, marking one of India's first sterilization centers exclusively for community cats.

The Maitri initiative fosters a collaborative effort between the local community and CUPA, aiming to manage stray cat populations while tackling the One Health challenge of overpopulation. CUPA's successful community enablement model for cat ABC has sterilized over 5000 community cats since 2018. The Murty Trust aims to bolster CUPA's impactful work by providing essential resources, enabling the scaling of efforts in community-cat population control.

Launched on January 1, 2024, the clinic was inaugurated by Mrs. Sudha Murty and Ms. Aparna Krishnan, alongside CUPA trustees. Mrs. Sudha Murty emphasizes the importance of addressing the challenges faced by both cats and communities, highlighting the initiative's commitment to well-being.

Ms. Rajani Badami, Hon. Trustee from CUPA, expresses delight in partnering with Murty Trust, foreseeing a significant impact on community cat population control and fostering harmony in Bangalore. Compassion Unlimited Plus Action, with over 30,000 animals receiving annual medical care, remains a leading force in Bangalore's animal welfare.

Under the leadership of Mrs. Sudha Murty and Mr. Rohan Murty, the Murty Trust remains dedicated to philanthropic initiatives, including animal welfare. Supporting 12+ organizations in the past two years, the Trust fortifies its commitment to humane treatment and care for animals.
